In short
- GarageAI is an open innovation project in beta and a marketplace. It connects people who need AI inference (“buyers”) with independent people and companies who share open AI models on their own hardware (“operators”).
- GarageAI does not own the hardware, does not run the models and does not write the answers. Operators are independent: not our employees, agents or subcontractors.
- AI answers can be wrong. You decide what to do with them.
- The service is in beta and provided as it is. We do our best, and we limit our liability as far as the law allows.
- Do not send sensitive or personal data through the marketplace until verified garages and data-processing agreements exist.
1. Who we are
GarageAI is provided by Liteit AB, org.nr 556616-1658, Kaplansbacken 3, 112 24 Stockholm, Sweden (“GarageAI”, “we”), which also takes payments (through Stripe) and issues receipts. Contact: hello@garageai.eu. These terms apply to every account on app.garageai.eu, to the API at api/llm.garageai.eu and to GarageAI Bridge.
2. What GarageAI does, and what it does not
GarageAI provides a portal, an API gateway and the Bridge software. Through them, a buyer’s request is routed to an operator’s machine, where an open model produces the answer, and the answer is returned to the buyer. GarageAI measures usage, takes payment from buyers and, when payouts exist, pays operators.
GarageAI does not:
- own, run or control operators’ hardware or the models on it;
- create, review, store or take responsibility for prompts or answers;
- license the models. Each model is published by a third party under its own licence, which applies to its use.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 18, give correct details and keep your login and API keys secret. You are responsible for everything done with your account and keys. Tell us at once if a key leaks; revoke it in the portal.
4. Buyers
- Use. Use the service lawfully and according to the acceptable-use rules (section 7) and the licence of the model you call.
- Answers. Answers are generated by AI models on operators’ machines. They may be wrong, incomplete, offensive or similar to other content. Check them before you rely on them. You are responsible for your prompts and for how you use the answers.
- Data. Prompts are encrypted in transit and the gateway does not store them, but they are processed in plain text on the operator’s machine. Operators have agreed not to log, store, read, forward or analyse them; this rests on their agreement, not on technology. Do not send personal data, special categories of personal data, trade secrets or other confidential information until GarageAI offers verified garages with a data-processing agreement.
- Payment. You pay in advance (credits) at the prices shown in the portal per model and route. Credits are spent per token as measured by the gateway. Unused credits are not refunded, except where the law requires it or when we close the service. Prices can change; a change applies to requests after it is published.
5. Operators
- Your garage, your responsibility. You provide and are responsible for your hardware, software, electricity, internet connection, cooling, wear and any damage to your equipment, and for following your internet provider’s, landlord’s or employer’s rules.
- Models. You only offer models you have the right to run for others, and you follow their licences (some restrict commercial use, user numbers or purposes). This includes your own fine-tunes and distills: the base model’s licence applies to them too and must allow serving the derived model to others. You do not offer models that are modified to produce illegal content.
- Confidentiality. You do not log, store, read, forward or analyse buyers’ prompts or answers, and you do not enable request logging in your runtime. A garage found doing so is removed and the account closed.
- Bridge. Bridge reports your machine’s state and models to GarageAI (never prompts, keys or command lines), keeps a tunnel to the gateway and updates itself. You may pause or uninstall it at any time.
- No guarantee of traffic or income. How many requests your garage gets depends on demand, your price, speed and availability. Routing in the pool is weighted by price and health; the details are described in the portal and the docs.
- Earnings and taxes. Earnings are shown in the portal. Until payouts exist they cannot be withdrawn as money. When earnings can be used as GarageAI credits, everything you have earned from the start of the service is added to your account as credits. Only requests paid with purchased credits create earnings; requests paid with free starting credits do not. Bank payouts are planned but not yet scheduled; payout terms will be added before they start, and they cover earnings from the day they start.
- One account, no self-dealing. One person or company uses one account. Creating accounts to send requests to your own garage, or any other way of generating earnings without real buyers, is not allowed; earnings from it are forfeited and the accounts may be closed. Using your own garage from your own account through My machine is allowed: it is free and creates no earnings. You are responsible for your own taxes and VAT; GarageAI may have to report your earnings to the tax authority.
- Independence. You act on your own behalf. Nothing in these terms makes you GarageAI’s employee, agent, partner or subcontractor.
6. Bridge (the software)
Bridge is open source under the MIT licence. It is provided as it is; you install it on your own
machine at your own risk. It asks for administrator rights to install its services, opens no
inbound ports and can be removed with garageai uninstall.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use GarageAI to:
- break the law or anyone’s rights, including generating child sexual abuse material, malware, targeted harassment, or content for fraud or election manipulation;
- try to identify, access or attack operators, their machines or other users;
- probe, overload or work around the gateway, its limits or its billing;
- resell access in a way that hides who the end user is, without agreement with us.
We may refuse, limit or stop requests, keys, garages or accounts that break these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
8. Availability and changes
The service is in beta and provided “as is” and “as available”. Garages come and go; a model can disappear, become slower or answer differently, and a garage can be briefly unavailable to buyers while its owner uses it. We do not promise any uptime, speed or result. We may change, pause or stop features. If we stop the whole service, we refund unused prepaid credits.
9. Liability
- GarageAI is not liable for answers, for operators’ acts or omissions, for buyers’ use of answers, for loss of data, profit, revenue or business, or for indirect or consequential loss.
- Our total liability to you for anything related to the service is limited to what you have paid GarageAI in the 12 months before the event (for operators: what GarageAI has paid you in that period), and at most EUR 500.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or rights you have as a consumer.
- You compensate GarageAI for claims from others that arise from your prompts, your use of answers, your garage or your breach of these terms.
10. Personal data
How we handle personal data (account details, usage figures, Bridge’s machine reports) is described in the privacy policy (garageai.eu/privacy). GarageAI does not store the content of prompts or answers; the portal’s chat keeps your conversations in your account only if you turn that on.
11. Ending
You can close your account at any time. We can close it with 30 days’ notice, or at once for a serious breach. Operators who are businesses get the reasons and can ask us to review the decision at hello@garageai.eu.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We publish changes with at least 15 days’ notice by e-mail or in the portal; if you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply. Changes required by law or for safety may apply at once.
13. Transfer
We may transfer these terms and your account to another company that takes over GarageAI (for example a company formed for it), and will tell you when we do. Your rights under these terms stay the same.
14. Law and disputes
Swedish law applies. Disputes are settled by Swedish courts, with Stockholm District Court as the first instance for businesses. Consumers may also turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) or the EU’s online dispute resolution platform.
